Ten Roanoke and New River Valley nonprofit organizations will be the beneficiaries of free marketing and creative services provided by the American Advertising Federation – Roanoke (AAF Roanoke) in its 6th CreateAthon® event. This 24-hour work-around-the-clock event will begin on Saturday, October 17th.
Organizations selected as CreateAthon clients this year include: The Rescue Mission, Bradley Free Clinic, Blue Ridge Literacy, Total Action for Progress, Old Southwest, Inc., Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southwest Virginia, Feeding America of Southwest Virginia, Prevention Council of Roanoke County, Roanoke Emergency Medical Services, Inc. and Downtown Christiansburg, Inc.
AAF Roanoke received a large number of applications from nonprofits across the Roanoke and New River Valley regions. “This is one of the most difficult tasks we have all year,” said Jamal Millner, AAF Roanoke, President. “The nonprofit community in Roanoke is outstanding, and choosing which applicants to accept is a painstaking process. We want to do what we can to help all the nonprofits succeed.”
In the 5 years prior, AAF Roanoke’s CreateAthon event and its volunteers have provided more than half a million dollars worth of creative services to local nonprofit businesses. Since 2002, 99+ agencies and creative groups in the US, Canada and Puerto Rico have held CreateAthon events in their cities. The effort has benefited over 1,300+ nonprofit organizations with 3,500+ projects valued at over $16.5 million. For more information on the program, please visit the web site at www.createathon.org.
