2 Under 32: Rising Stars in Advertising

Award recognizing 2 rising stars in the advertising industry.

Introducing the inaugural 2 Under 32: Rising Stars in Advertising Awards, a celebration of emerging talent in Roanoke that recognizes the brightest young minds in the advertising space. This initiative consists of two distinct categories: the 2 Under 32: Advertising Professional (aged 32 and Under) and the 2 Under 32: College Student in Advertising.

The Young Advertising Professional category shines a spotlight on the remarkable achievements of individuals aged 32 and under who have not only demonstrated outstanding expertise but have also showcased exceptional leadership potential, creativity and a commitment to pushing the boundaries of the industry.

For the College Student in Advertising award, we acknowledge the next generation of advertising leaders. This category celebrates current college students who have displayed exceptional academic performance, creativity, initiative and a collaborative spirit. Their projects and contributions resonate beyond the classroom, making a significant impact on the industry’s evolution.

Join us in recognizing and celebrating these Rising Stars, as we honor those who are shaping the future of advertising with their innovation, dedication and passion.


Nomination for 2 Under 32: Advertising Professional

Nominees for the 2 Under 32 — Advertising Professional award should be aged 32 and under and should be employed in the advertising, marketing, design, digital communications or other similar advertising field. Membership in Ad 2 Roanoke or AAF Roanoke is not required. Additional criteria for this award is below:

  • Demonstrated Excellence: Nominees should have exhibited exceptional skills, innovation, and accomplishments within the field of advertising, design, marketing or other related advertising field; showcasing their impact on campaigns, strategies, or projects.
  • Professional Growth: The nominee’s journey and growth trajectory within the advertising industry should reflect a dedication to learning, adaptability and continuous improvement.
  • Leadership Potential: Nominees should exemplify leadership qualities, whether through managing teams, mentoring peers or contributing to industry initiatives.
  • Creativity and Innovation: The candidate’s work should display a unique and imaginative approach, pushing the boundaries of traditional advertising and showcasing inventive solutions.
  • Industry Involvement: Participation in industry events, conferences, workshops, and other activities that demonstrate the nominee’s commitment to staying informed and engaged within the advertising landscape.

NOTE, nominations that do not include outstanding work in all categories may not be considered. When submitting the nominee’s lists of achievements, please consider how the nominee’s actions have brought about significant change, impact, or improvement to the fields of advertising, marketing, or design in each of the categories. What makes a great nomination?

A great award nomination starts with a stellar member of the industry that has gone above and beyond their day-to-day job to make significant contributions to the community. They do not have to be members of AAF, but we definitely love it when they are. Be detailed in your nomination; it’s the small things that can make the biggest impact.

Nomination for 2 Under 32: College Student in Advertising

Nominees for the 2 Under 32 — College Student in Advertising award should be currently enrolled in an advertising, design, marketing, digital communications or other advertising-related, graduate or post-graduate curriculum, in an accredited, Virginia college or university. Virginia-based students enrolled in online courses in a college or university outside the state of Virginia are not eligible for this award. Professionals who are enrolled in professional continuing education course post-graduation are not eligible for this award. Membership in Ad 2 Roanoke or AAF Roanoke is not required. Additional criteria for this award is below:

  • Academic Excellence: Nominees should have exhibited outstanding academic performance and a deep understanding of advertising, design or marketing principles, strategies and concepts during their college career.
  • Creative Potential: Demonstrated creative work, whether in the form of campaigns, designs, or projects, that showcases the nominee’s ability to think innovatively.
  • Initiative and Enthusiasm: The nominee’s active involvement in extracurricular activities, internships or relevant projects that highlight their dedication and eagerness to learn about the advertising field.
  • Impactful Projects: Any projects that have contributed positively to the advertising space, community, or a social cause, highlighting the nominee’s commitment to creating meaningful change.
  • Collaborative Spirit: The ability to work effectively within teams, collaborate with peers and contribute constructively to group projects or initiatives.
